Don Fox Planning was engaged in 2005 by the Westmead Precinct Steering Committee headed up by the Department of Planning to be the lead consultant on the Westmead Precinct Implementation Plan project. The brief of the project was to progress the Westmead Precinct Structure Plan prepared by the Government Architects Office by carrying out additional economic, urban design, traffic and transport modelling analysis and to prepare a comprehensive implementation plan for Westmead Precinct. A major goal for the implementation plan was to ensure its consistency with the broad objectives of Sydney Regional Environment Plan No. 28 – Parramatta and the Metropolitan Strategy for Sydney.
Throughout the duration of the project, the consultant team regularly met with the Westmead Precinct Steering Committee who were responsible for reviewing the work of the consultant team and making strategic decisions regarding the direction of the project.
As the lead consultant, Don Fox Planning was responsible for carrying out the town planning related aspects of the project and project managing the sub consultants (Gabrielle Morrish from GM Urban Design, Michael Evesson from Hirst Consulting and Chris Stapleton from Christopher Stapleton Consulting). We also compiled and published the Westmead Precent Implementation Plan which was finalised in mid 2006.
