DFP was engaged by Stockland to assist in the redevelopment of the former Totem Shopping Centre which is a district shopping centre forming the retail hub of Balgowlah. DFP assisted Stockland in successfully obtaining an approval for a staged development of the Shopping Centre, comprising a mixed retail and residential development. The new retail centre and basement parking is located below a podium level, which incorporates a large public plaza flanked with retail uses and pedestrian access to 8 residential buildings ranging from 2 to 8 storeys.
The application was the product of an extensive community consultation process that engaged Manly Council, Council’s professional staff, precinct committees, community representatives and immediate neighbours.
Following the successful approval of the Stage 1 application, DFP prepared a Statement of Environmental Effects for a development application now lodged with Manly Council that further developed the concept plans and design detail including approximately 15,000 square metres of retail/commercial floor space and 271 apartments.
